Osijek

The City of Osijek is the administrative centre of the Osijek-Baranja County. It is the fourth largest city in Croatia with the population of around 100,000, and it is located in the most eastern part of the Republic of Croatia.

The earliest recorded mention of the city is from 1196, but people have been living here for centuries before that. Historically, the City of Osijek was one of the more important military forts of the Hapsburg Monarchy, during which the city was built in the Baroque style. Today Osijek is a university city that offers plenty of cultural, entertainment and gastronomy content, which is enjoyed by an increasing number of domestic and international guests.

SLAVONIA AND BARANJA

Slavonia and Baranja are located in the eastern part of the Republic of Croatia and the administrative centre of the region is the City of Osijek.

Slavonia and Baranja cover the area along 3 great rivers: Danube, Drava, and Sava, and they are known for their plains and exceptional natural wealth. There are many culture and gastronomy events in the area itself, mostly starting in early spring and lasting until late autumn, when the natural beauty of this region is most prominent.

An increasing number of domestic and international guests have the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of cycling tourism, visiting the National Park Kopački rit and the Adrenaline Park Zlatna greda, but they can also visit the nearby towns like Đakovo, Vukovar, and Ilok, which provide a wonderful experience with their rich history and cultural heritage.

The City of Osijek is located in the eastern part of Croatia and the distance to the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, is 280 km.
