The City of Osijek is the administrative centre of the Osijek-Baranja County. It is the fourth largest city in Croatia with the population of around 100,000, and it is located in the most eastern part of the Republic of Croatia.
The earliest recorded mention of the city is from 1196, but people have been living here for centuries before that. Historically, the City of Osijek was one of the more important military forts of the Hapsburg Monarchy, during which the city was built in the Baroque style. Today Osijek is a university city that offers plenty of cultural, entertainment and gastronomy content, which is enjoyed by an increasing number of domestic and international guests.
