Busy summer at the top gymnastics center in Osijek continued with the arrival of men’s team of the Gymnastic Federation of Serbia. Recently, Sokol Center Osijek was the site of training camp of the Hungarian women’s team for the upcoming World Championships in Stuttgart, and now young gymnasts from Serbia trying out top training conditions here in Osijek.

“The decision to come to this top-class facility in Osijek is driven by a longstanding friendship between our two gymnastics federations, and we are especially intensively cooperating with the coaches and gymnasts of the Gymnastics Club Osijek – Žito. During the FIG World Challenge Cup in Osijek this year, gymnast Ivan Dejanovic and I had the opportunity to visit the center and made sure that we would have excellent working conditions for our national team here. This is truly a top-notch gymnastics center, and best of all, we have everything in one place – the gym and rooms where we are accommodate are in then same venue, and this is a huge help at this moment,” said coach Vladimir Drakulic.

Coach Drakulic arrived in Osijek with four members of the Gymnastics Federation of Serbia – with him at the Sokol Center are gymnasts Ivan Dejanovic, Nikola Jurkovic, Vlada Rakovic and Petar Vefic. Training camp session in Osijek is extremely important for this team, because these young gymnasts are waiting for the biggest challenge of the season – the World Championship in Stuttgart, Germany.

“It is important for us to prepare well for Germany – for all gymnasts this is the most important competition in 2019. We are focused on making the best while training here in Osijek. Spending time with the Osijek’s trainers and gymnasts is a great benefit for us – especially when we have a chance to spend time in the gym with Robert Seligman, which is one of the best pommel horse specialist currently in the world,” added Drakulic.

Robert himself is looking forward to seeing as many foreign colleagues as possible at “his” Sokol Center.

“I am sure all of our guests will love the fact that the facility is located in a wonderful park, which combines something traditional, a beautiful building listed as a cultural monument, and a modern gym hall. You cannot find that anywhere, at least I have never seen anything like that anywhere in the world. At the same time, within one facility we have a top gym hall and modern rooms where our guests are accommodated while having their training camp sessions here in Sokol Centar. Wherever I go with my coaches, it is important for me to have the best possible working conditions, because only then can I maximize my focus on what matters the most – and it is training. That is why it is important that we at Sokol Centar provide our colleagues who come from other clubs and national teams with the best working conditions, and I believe that we succeed in that so far.”
